The Russell Brothers - The Party Scene

The most recent bootleg to hit the streets is this one and about time too. At least I think it's a bootleg as I can't see it being re-issued after all these years. I'd like an OG copy one day but until then this'll do. Being my second favourite track on the streetsounds LP, 'Crucial Electro 2' (second only to 'One For The Treble' by Davy DMX) I feel it's a welcome addition to my collection of golden oldies. Nothing more need be said about this true electro classic except I thought I knew all the lyrics but apparently not.

Didn't know this was on re-release. Just ordered a copy as this tune is the DON of the electro scene!

Thanks for the info!

I got this record recently as
well one of the very best for
me and great to see it here on your
blog that is seriously looking like "The Connoisseur's Guide To The Greatest Hits Of
Electro Funk"

nice to see other people still buying this kinda stuff. didn't think i was on my own but the mp3 seems to have taken over for most people which is understandable. i don't mind the bootlegs personally, if the sound quality is good which this one is.

when I was at school I used to
stay up at night till around
1 am listening to the
Groove Records Electro charts
on a pirate radio station that
I think was called Radio Invictor.
While they were on air till about 1984 it was a very exciting time
taping the shows playing them at
school for the robot dancers.
To me it is all about the funky
outer space beats like this 12"
and I will never tire of listening
to these tracks on the contrary
this type of music fills me with
energy and strength that is totally addictive.I still remember
the moment I was seduced into the
Electro Funk sound when I was about
13 a friend played me Pack Jam,
Space Is The Place, Lookin For The
Perfect Beat and Scorpio I am still
blown away by these tracks now.

there was no pirate radio in sheffield until around 1989 so john peel was the only one playing hip hop on the radio. i think at first he was only on 2 or 3 times a week before getting a 5 night slot 9am to 12 midnight. it was a chore listening to all the other stuff in between but worth it in the end. i think with these sort of tracks it's not just the fact that they are amazing it's also that they are attached to you in some kinda way if you know what i'm getting at. it's not just how they sound it's the memories they trigger when you hear them again. i might shed a tear in a minute..

for me electro was lost when radio
invictor was taken down in 1984
so dj's like John Peel and various
pirate radio stations introduced
me to Industrial Funk.These artists
like Cabaret Voltaire and Tackhead
for me kept the original experimentation of early 80's electro
and filled the gap for me. The electro I did hear in late 80's
seem to consist of dull drum
loops and rapping with the B
side being exactly the same as
the A side with vocals romoved
boring and predictable.That is
why this blog of yours for me is
invaluable and very important I
can discover the gems I missed
out on in the later 80's like:
Ultimate Choice, The Featuring Finesse & T.L.C.* – You Can't Front (We Will Rock You).Sorry for
rambling on a bit it's just that
I spent an eternity looking for a blog like this so thanks from mr anonymous again.

glad to hear it mate, a ramble is better than nowt. I have that tackhead 12" with dj cheese. john peel played that one if i remember rightly. i'll dig it out. i kind of evolved with the music if you like, only up to a certain point but i get what you're saying.

if its the dj cheese "King Of The Beat" 5 track
12" it's
the only 12" by Fats Comet aka
Tackhead I have not got a physical
copy of only a badly ripped mp3.
Your rips of 320 are excellent though
although my dream is to have that 12"
rip as a lossless file or to own that
12" as It was never officially released.
