Rhythm Radicals - Dig The Move

Bought a copy of this again a few months back, only cost a couple o' quid, a decent record obviously highly influenced by PE but I think I'm going through some sort of crisis and need to get all the records I used to have to complete my collection. Then I'll stop. No, I will.

MC Drew - Take No Prisoners

Brilliant record this, thumpin' 808 bass on the A-side but the B-side, 'Big Nuts' is a bit of a let down. I don't know about you but the records from this era I heard as a kid are nearly all classics in my mind and almost all the ones that passed me by as a kid I find difficult to listen to even though I know if I had heard them back then they would also be considered classics, if you get me. For instance, I had 'Bad Boys' on just a few days ago and the missus heard it and said, 'Inspector gadget? What the heck is that?' and I had to try and explain it and struggled a little but I still think it's a fresh jam. However I had to ask myself if I would think it was dope if I'd never heard it in '85 or '86 or whenever it came out? The answer would be probably not but this one is an exception to that rule. 'I'm The Packman' by The Packman is another pretty odd record that I would certainly give the elbow today had I not been alive and well and b boying my best in '83. Enjoy this one though if you've not heard it 'cos it'll knock your socks off.

MC EZ & Troup - Just Rhymin'

Sunday again and what better way to celebrate than a 320kbps rip of a classic slice of wax from '88. I don't remember listening to this before purchase so I'm pretty sure I chose it because of the label it was on. 'Get Retarded' on the flip don't forget which is arguably the stronger track but both efforts have something to offer. Y-side wins again?

EPMD - You Gots To Chill

I read a recently published interview with Erick & Parrish in the latest Waxpoetics magazine and from the not over revealing Q & A session I was reminded of two things. One, I only ever bought two 12"s by EPMD, 'Crossover', (for the B-side) and this one right here. Two, this is a arguably one of the best records made during the so called 'golden era' of hip hop music. Erick Sermon was no bomb squad type. He found a good break and just looped it, nothing fancy and that's probably why their first and second albums were so good because he kept it simple. I personally still appreciate them as much as when I first purchased them in Warp records on Division Street in Sheffield (now a costa coffee shop, yay..). I'm pretty sure this is an easy acquisition so my advice would be to get it got if you don't have it. It'll be fine, it says 1988 on the label.

PJ Rappers Feat. J-Groove - Use What You Got To Get What You Want

I know nothing about this record except it sounded better when I first bought it in '88. Three cuts in total,a long, a short and an instrumental version and a U2 sample nonetheless. >> Download

Top Priority - Let The Homocides Begin

I bought this the other week as it's less than likely that I'm gonna be able to secure a copy of the OG, classic golden era rap in bootleg 45rpm form, just the vocal and instrumental versions on this release.

Live N' Effect Posse - I'm Getting Physical

Fantastic slice of the so called 'Golden Era' style of things produced by the famous among 'random' fans, Paul C. I have to admit to never having heard of it until the bootleg came about and I forgot I'd bought a copy until recently and decided to sell it a few weeks back where it sold for 5 times more than I paid, which was nice. Such is the power of The Man..

3XD - Greatest Man Alive 12" (1988)

Won this on ebay last week, 99p was the winning bid and you can't sniff at that. I'd buy almost anything for a quid. B-side wins again though, 'Straight Up' is a corkin' tune, proper heavy hip hop beats.
